Tip of the Month - Lets make Magenta Shores the home of 'Ready Golf':
We all know that our course is a challenging test of golf.
Let's face it, that's one aspect that we love about our course!
However, that should not be an excuse for slow play.
No one enjoys a round of golf that takes more the 4hours and 30min. We should all aspire to complete our competition rounds inside that time - so everyone can enjoy their golfing experience.
Here are some tips to help you make the small changes to your game that can lead to minutes off each round - and often lead to a better score.
READY golf:
Don't wait for your turn to play your shot, play your shot when you are ready to hit.
Walk to your ball (even out of the cart if driving) and prepare for your shot as quickly as you can when it is safe to walk ahead.
Do not wait at the shortest ball off the tee - move to your ball whenever it is safe and prepare to hit.
If golfers are hitting behind you, take care to watch their shots and avoid any danger.
Putt when 'ready', not always in 'turn' of furthest from the hole.
Maintain 'position' in the field:
Maintaining 'position' means keeping in sight of, and close to 1 x shot from the group in front
If the group infront has left the green when you reach the tee, your group is out of position.
Note - par 3s can be an exception, however, it is still advisable to keep as close as you can.
When our new cart fleet is operational, we will be monitoring 'position' closely and communicating with groups that need to hurry up.
What to do if your group is 'out of position':
Walk faster between shots
Reduce pre shot routine time or prepare while someone else is hitting.
Move from the green to the next tee as soon as each golfer finishes a hole (don't wait for the entire group)
Hit a provisional ball if there is any uncertainty about finding your ball
Reduce time looking for balls - or some group members play their shots whilst others conduct a < 3 minute search.
The low marker of the group has the responsibility to return the group to 'position in the field'
