We advise Members that Rob Hurley, our General Manager for the past seven years, has advised Magenta Shores Golf Management (the Manager, and his employer) that he is leaving Magenta to take up the position of General Manager at 13th Beach Golf Links, a 36 hole course in Victoria. His resignation will take effect on 4 May 2024.
We are disappointed to be losing Rob and wish him well in the new challenge he will be facing. Rob has done a masterful job of building our membership, normalising and improving all aspects of our golf operations, and assisting in hiring and working with our course superintendent, James Newell.
Rob will be leaving our Club in a good financial and operational position. We are a young Club and there is still a lot to do, which will be a focus in the identification and hiring of Rob’s replacement.
The Manager is obliged immediately to commence the search for a new General Manager for Magenta Shores and to submit its nomination to the Board for approval. Under the Management Agreement appointments to the positions of General Manager, Course Superintendent and Head Professional each require the approval of the Golf Club Board.
We expect that an interim General Manager will be appointed while the recruitment process is underway and will advise Members shortly when that decision is made. We will also keep Members aware of the process as it progresses.
I will write more on Rob’s achievements at the end of this month.
On behalf of the Board
Peter Gaydon
