Captains' Update - October 2025

IMPORTANT NOTES 

Late Cancellations - Respect your Fellow Members 
Please cancel as soon as you know you cannot play. There are still cancellations happening on Friday night and Saturday morning leaving scarce tee times unfilled and 3s or 4s reduced to pairs playing a frustratingly slow round. 
Slow Play
There has been an increase in slow play incidents recently. Play ready golf. If someone in your group is looking for a ball, play your shot first and then help look not vice versa. Keep up with the players in front. If you fall a full hole behind and cannot make up time then skip a hole and let everyone behind you catch up. 
Carts and GPS
There are many reasons to keep the GPS on. If you do not then the players behind you cannot see you on the many blind holes we have at Magenta. If they cannot see your cart on their screen they can assume you are no longer on the hole and can hit. This is very dangerous and you cannot complain if they hit up on you. 
Electric and Pull Buggies 
Some clubs allow these to be pulled or sent across the green without stopping. At Magenta we do NOT.

Family Day – Sunday October 19 
Get ready. Ask your golfing relatives to play. One in each pair must be a Member of Magenta Shores. Three trophies. 
Husband and wife (including de facto relationships). 
Siblings – round up a sister or brother – in-laws allowed. 
Magenta Generations – a pair representing different generations. Grandparents and grand children, fathers and mothers with sons or daughters including in-laws. Two brand new trophies – an opportunity to get your names there first!
 
Par 3 Event -NOTE CHANGE OF DATE 
The first Par 3 2-ball Ambrose event for Spring was a great success with a field of 44 players. The next will be held on Friday 24th September at 4pm so as not to clash with the AGM on Friday 31st. Join in the fun on the course and pizza and drinks afterwards.
 
Course Hole Indices 
Course hole indices are being reviewed. Still work to be done. We will announce the changes in November and they will take effect from 1 January.

Watch our NSW Junior Golf Stars 
We are hosting City v Country junior tournament on 8th October. If you want to see 12 girls and 12 boys who may be stars of the future come and watch. On 9th and 10th we have the Jack Newton Junior Golf Matchplay NSW finals which will also be worth watching. Any volunteers for the BBQ please contact Brian Bennett.

Charity Day - 25th November - Raising Money for The Cancer Council 
Everyone has some connection to someone with cancer. The Cancer Council funds research and awareness programmes. Details will be announced shortly.

Congratulations to winners Greg Newbery and Debbie Thompson who played excellent golf and proved too strong for gallant Runners-up Chrissie Beattie and Ian Rigby.

Eagles Nest 
Congratulation this was won by Gerard Aldrick on Saturday 27th September at 23cm.A good win with $220 being credited to his account. Reminder for the Eagles Nest on the 12th  you only need to record nearest the pin on mi-score if it 25cm or less.
