Pro Shop Update - May 2025

Vale Mr. Lewis Oldfield:
Firstly, we in the pro-shop are deeply saddened by the loss of Mr. Oldfield, as he was a true gentleman and to not see his welcoming smile enter the Club’s pro-shop door again is heartbreaking. We would like to send Ann, Family and Friends our deepest condolences and may Lew rest in peace for eternity. 

Lee’s Pro-Shop News: 
Going forward, congrats to all the past winners and placegetters in the recent competitions. Also, a huge shout-out to our staff member Ryan Carrigan, who just won the St. Michael's Golf Club Cup, with a fine round of even par 72. Please note, Ryan intends to start his PGA apprenticeship next year. So, the Club looks forward to supporting his growth and development. 

Clearance Sale - Old Logo Items:
As for pro-shop news, we do still have some old logo items at below cost sale. However, they’re diminishing fast. Having noted that, our new logo items are moving well and many thanks for your kind support. As we intend to fit-out the shop even better in the coming months.  

Lessons & Custom Fittings:
Also, please feel free to pop-in and either have a lesson, custom fitting and/or both at the golf studio or driving range, as we are always on hand to assist with all your golfing requirements. Furthermore, the door is always open to talk about any concerns you may have or just an idea that you think might benefit your club. As the future looks bright and exciting times are ahead at Magenta Shores.  

New Driving Range Ball Dispenser 
Finally, I am excited to announce the Board has reviewed, approved and ordered a new UK built and state-of-the-art driving range ball dispenser, which will be housed next to the existing golf studio. This machine is seamless with our existing Mi-Club Software. So, we can credit your designated range balls to the Club App and then members can simply use when required. With all that said, the machine should be installed and operational by mid-June 2025 (next month).  

Gavin's Golf Tip of the Month:
Gavin gives a big congratulations to our Course Superintendent, James Newell, and his team for maintaining incredible course conditions during the recent wet weather event. While around twelve courses within 100km of Magenta are closed, we’re still open with carts and thriving!
Plus, a quick driver tip: use your tee box position to shape your shot and gain the edge.

As previously noted, we only have a few more old logo items remaining in this particular promotion. So, get in fast this weekend and grab a great deal (everything must go):

Fresh Daily Pies, Sausage Rolls, Sandwiches, Bacon & Eggs Rolls:
The pro-shop have been trialing a fresher approach to food offerings on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (plus some public holidays), which are delivered freshly-made on those mornings. 
Also, we are creating a larger pool of casual staff to always be on hand to operate the mobile F&B cart. 
With that noted, we are very lucky to have Desiree Herden back in Oz for the next few months, in which you will see her smiling face. Along with some new staff that will be on-hand to assist you on-course. 

Members Complimentary Golf Clinics:
Don’t forget to attend the members complimentary clinics, as they are a great way to improve your golf and meet new members. So, take advantage of this very unique service, as Magenta Shores is one of the only Clubs in Australia that offer this fantastic initiative.
