Captains' Update - November 2025

21 Golfers will be playing 72 holes on the day and have raised in excess of $9000 in funds to help fight Cancer with 2 weeks still to go and a target of $15000.
We have blocked out the front 9 for their efforts so that members can still enjoy a game on the day (booking the back nine via the timesheet).

All the donations are tax deductible and go directly to the Cancer Council to support research, patient and family support and awareness. This is a great cause which affects us all directly or indirectly.

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS 
Some great golf already and more to come this weekend. Good luck to all. 
To recognize all the finalists and encourage friends, families, other Members and even non-golfing residents to come out and watch the finalists on Sunday and congratulate the winners and runners-up afterwards we will put on complimentary pizzas and drinks in the Members Lounge after the matches finish. 

CONGRATULATIONS TO MAGENTA JUNIORS 
At the Central Coast Academy of Sport’s awards ceremony Ava Prince won the Chair’s Award which recognises “exceptional leadership and commitment”. In the golf category Ava was awarded “Athlete of the Year” and Kai Tower was awarded “Rising Star”. 
At the Jack Newton Junior Golf International at Cypress Lakes and The Vintage Blake Cranston tied with 3 others but unfortunately didn’t win the 4-way playoff. Max Atwell finished just 1 stroke behind the winner in the U12s. 
Magenta hosted the JNJG Fore Golf Matchplay in October. City 6.5 def Country 5.5 with Blake Cranston and Ava Prince both winning their matches for the Country team. Blake won the U15 boys matchplay and he and Ava qualified for the Bonville championships in December.
Oliver Craik and Ian Wang will battle it out in the C Grade semi-finals meaning one Junior will be in the final. And Ava Prince is in the Semifinals of the Ladies A Grade Championships.

OTHER IMPORTANT NEWS 
Eagles Nest and NTPs 
The Eagles Nest has not generated much excitement. The Match Committee has decided to abandon it and to return to NTP on 4 Par 3s from this Saturday 15 November.
Terms of Competition 
These have been revised. They are available on the website and app. 
Hole Indices 
The analysis has been completed and several changes will be made to both Mens and Ladies indices from 1 January 2026. The changes for Men are not great. For Ladies the changes are more significant and is probably because several Red Tee positions have been changed since the indices were first determined. All the indices are based on actual competition scores on each hole during the first 7 months of 2025. The methodology for Men was more detailed because of the much larger number of scores. For Women the smaller numbers and the spread of handicaps meant a simple ranking of hole relative difficulty by all scores was adopted. 

Shootout 
The back nine shootout will be held on Sunday December 7.
Shootout 2026
While very popular, the Shootouts have been our most expensive prize by far for what has required just one or two rounds to qualify and then sometimes a good dose of luck in the Shootout. In 2026 we have decided to run one Shootout for the year with the best 4 rounds counting between January Medal Day and the end of November. The top 20 will then be ranked and the qualifiers 1,3 ,5 etc will play a Shootout on the front nine at the same time the even numbered qualifiers will play a Shootout on the back nine. The two winners will then play the 1st hole to determine the overall winner. Provided Bonville agrees to supply accommodation/golf vouchers again the one prize for ladies and one for men will be the same as in the past. 
Eclectic 2026 
There will be a single eclectic competition running from January to the end of November. 
Late Cancellations – respect your fellow Members.
There has been an increase again in late cancellations. Please make sure you cancel as soon as you know you will not be playing.  

Carts 
We hope you are enjoying the new carts. The new livery is very smart, the brakes a huge improvement and the visage screens much clearer. Can you please look after them well and do not take them into the rough. 
Please make sure they are all back by 5.45pm so that the staff can clean them and put them on chargers so they are ready first thing in the morning.
